Safety & Risk Management Engineer – Construction, Industrial & Manufacturing

 

Sinnott Training & Certification Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled and certified Safety & Risk Management Engineer to join our dynamic and rapidly expanding team in Ireland. The successful candidate will possess a comprehensive range of safety and risk management certifications and skills, which are crucial for maintaining and enhancing safety protocols within our industrial, manufacturing, construction, and energy generation client sites.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Risk Assessment: Conduct detailed civil engineering risk assessments and implement methodologies to identify, evaluate, and mitigate potential hazards.

  2. Health and Safety: Oversee and enforce health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with Irish construction and safety standards.

  3. Safety Inspections: Perform regular inspections of lifting tackles and other equipment to ensure they meet safety standards and regulations. Oversee all health and safety compliance aspects, including working at heights, advanced driving, and lifting tackle inspections.

  4. Workplace Safety Management: Implement and manage safety programs, conduct safety training sessions, and promote a culture of safety within the workplace.

  5. Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into workplace incidents, determine root causes, and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences.

  6. Legal Compliance: Ensure all safety practices comply with legal requirements and construction regulations in Ireland. Provide training and guidance on safety management practices, legal liabilities, and first aid.

  7. Hazard Identification: Continuously identify and assess hazards within the workplace, ensuring immediate corrective actions are taken.

  8. Emergency Response: Provide basic life support and first aid in emergency situations, ensuring preparedness for any incidents.

  9. Operation Risk Management: Develop and implement operational risk management plans to minimise risks associated with engineering and construction activities.

  10. Conducted comprehensive risk assessments and developed risk management methodologies for emergency response projects and teams.

  11. Oversee all health and safety compliance aspects, including working at heights, advanced driving, and lifting tackle inspection.

  12. Implement and manage safety programs in accordance with national construction regulations.

  13. Conduct workplace incident investigations and continuous hazard identification to mitigate risks.

  14. Develop and maintain safety documentation and records.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a similar safety officer role within the manufacturing, energy generation, pharmaceutical, construction, or civil engineering industries.

  • Strong knowledge of international and Irish risk and compliance coupled with health and safety regulations and standards.

  • Proficiency in safety management software and tools

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proven ability to lead internal and external on-site emergency response and safety teams.

  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects together with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Valid certifications are listed above.

Salary: €48 000 Based in Limerick, Ireland, on a 40-hour working week.
